The World Tang Soo Do Association was formed November 1982 in Philadelphia PA. Since its inception, it has
grown internationally with member schools around the world. Each student becomes a member of this very large family. With membership, students gain access to regional, national, and international events.

Our founder, Grandmaster Jae Chul Shin began teaching Tang Soo Do to American soldiers in 1958 during the Korean war. In 1968, he came to the United States to continue spreading the art. During that era, a book was published by Black Belt Magazine titled "20th Century Warriors". The writers devoted an entire chapter in the book to Grandmaster Shin. Under the leadership of Grandmaster Shin, the WTSDA has established a world organization with membership approaching 200,000 in more than sixty countries.

Grandmaster Beaudoin began his training under Grandmaster Shin during the Korean war at the U.S. Air Force base in Osan Korea. He tested for his first degree Black Belt in 1963 in front of a testing panel consisting of Grandmaster Hwang Kee as well as Grandmaster Shin. In 1965, Grandmaster Beaudoin returned to Connecticut and established Beaudoin Academy of Karate. Since then, he has spread the traditional art of Tang Soo Do throughout the region. He earned his Masters Belt in 1971 and has been studying as well as teaching Tang Soo Do for over fifty years.

Grandmaster Beaudoin earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Connecticut, a Masters degree from Trinity College, and has a Doctorate in Education from Argosy University in Sarasota Florida. Grandmaster Beaudoin was promoted to the rank of 8th Dan at the 2010 World Championships.

The World Tang Soo Do Association is a reputable and respectable organization that warmly welcomes new members. The WTSDA's motto is "Traditionalism, Professionalism, and Brotherhood".
